Hitting a record high, the number of overseas buyers at the Canton Fair exceeded 250,000 for the first time

On November 4, the 136th Canton Fair concluded successfully in Guangzhou. A reporter from CCTV learned that the number of overseas

buyers attending this Canton Fair exceeded the 250,000 mark for the first time, a record high, and the volume of export intention

transactions also increased slightly compared with the previous session, achieving the goal of hosting an exciting, successful, safe and

clean event.

 

Zhou Shanqing, director of the Canton Fair News Center and deputy director of the China Foreign Trade Center, said that under the strong

leadership of the Ministry of Commerce and Guangdong Province, this Canton Fair has achieved good results through the joint efforts of

relevant ministries and commissions, local commercial authorities, overseas agencies and all participants. The results have made positive

contributions to promoting high-quality development of international trade, expanding high-level opening up, and promoting Chinese-style

modernization.

According to statistics, as of November 3 (the same below), a total of 253,000 overseas purchasers from 214 countries and regions had attended

the conference, an increase of 2.8% from the previous session. Purchasers from countries participating in the “Belt and Road Initiative” accounted

for over 60%, totaling 165,000 people, an increase of 3.7%. The number of buyers from Middle Eastern countries grew the fastest, reaching

34,000, an increase of 32.6%. The number of buyers from European and American countries rebounded significantly, with 54,000 buyers

attending the conference, an increase of 8.2%. Among them, there were 22,000 EU buyers, an increase of 22.5%, and 8,919 American buyers,

an increase of 5.2%. A total of 146 industrial and commercial organizations organized groups to participate in the conference, an increase of 18.5%.

The number of leading multinational purchasing companies exceeded 300 for the first time, reaching 308.

 

“The overseas buyers attending this session have clear purchasing goals and strong willingness to cooperate. They are expected to conclude more

deals through on-site factory inspections and in-depth docking.” This is a situation generally reflected by exhibitors at the 136th Canton Fair. Data

show that the export intention turnover of this Canton Fair was US$24.95 billion, an increase of 1% from the previous session. The “One Belt, One

Road” co-construction countries accounted for more than half of the transactions, and the transactions in the traditional markets of Europe and the

United States achieved growth.

 

This session of the Canton Fair focuses on displaying the development achievements of new productive forces, with innovative products emerging

one after another, and technological content and brand value continuing to increase. On display were 1.15 million new products, 1.04 million green

products, and 1.11 million independent intellectual property products. Digital, intelligent and green products have outstanding highlights and are

favored by overseas buyers. 435 new product launch events were held, attracting approximately 3,500 purchasers to participate offline. A total of

147 award-winning products from 120 companies were selected for the Canton Fair Design Innovation Award (CF Award), and the award-winning

product exhibition hall attracted more than 30,000 visits.

 

 

A total of 730 companies from 49 countries and regions participated in the Canton Fair this year, of which 65.5% were from countries participating

in the Belt and Road Initiative and 33% were from RCEP member countries. Many well-known international companies showcased intelligent

manufacturing and high-quality household consumer products, attracting the attention of domestic and foreign purchasers. Exhibition group

companies from Russia, Malaysia, Vietnam and other countries have reached intentional cooperation with Chinese companies, and their products

are expected to quickly enter the Chinese market. Pavilion groups from Türkiye, South Korea, Egypt and other countries expressed that they have

gained a lot and will continue to organize groups to participate in the next edition.

 

The offline Canton Fair is very lively, and the online Canton Fair is equally prosperous. Exhibitors of this Canton Fair have uploaded a total of

approximately 3.75 million exhibits on the official website of the Canton Fair, attracting 450,000 overseas purchasers from 224 countries and

regions around the world to participate online. Exhibiting companies’ stores received a total of 3.42 million visits, including 3.39 million visits

to export exhibition stores. The company had a total of 986 online presentations, with a total of 32,000 views. The first-launched Canton Fair

APP attracted about 87,000 people to download and use it, becoming a popular handheld “participation assistant”.

 

This Canton Fair also successfully held more than 860 trade promotion activities, setting a historical record. A series of 348 “Trade Bridge”

events were held, of which 334 supply and procurement docking activities attracted 763 buyers and 1,747 suppliers for “one-on-one” docking

negotiations, with the cumulative intended purchase amount exceeding US$850 million. 55 professional conferences were held, including 19

industry forums, attracting approximately 2,500 visitors. For the first time, 10 cutting-edge and trend themed reports including the “Chinese

Brand Overseas Development Report” were released.

 

In terms of trade services, the trade service area of ​​this Canton Fair has introduced 229 companies to participate in the exhibition, providing

full-chain trade services online and offline such as financial insurance, logistics and warehousing, testing and certification. Optimize the cross-

border e-commerce exhibition area and organize 7 cross-border e-commerce platforms, 34 supporting service providers and 6 cross-border

e-commerce comprehensive pilot areas to participate in the exhibition to help expand new trade formats. The Product Design and Trade

Promotion Center (PDC) of the Canton Fair attracted a total of 113 design companies from 12 countries and regions to participate, an increase

of 9.7% compared with the previous session. It received a total of more than 11,000 customers and reached about 1,400 design service intention

cooperations.

 

In addition, this Canton Fair will continue to carry out high-standard work on intellectual property protection and trade dispute resolution,

create a good trading order, and protect the innovative development of enterprises. A total of 455 intellectual property complaint cases were

accepted online and offline, and 206 companies were ultimately determined to be suspected of infringement; 20 trade disputes were accepted

and mediated, and 12 cases were settled. Issue 7 exhibition certificates to exhibitors.

 

After the closing of the offline exhibition of this Canton Fair, the online platform will continue to operate on a regular basis. A reporter from

CCTV learned that the 137th Canton Fair will be held in Guangzhou in three phases from April 15 to May 5 next year. The application process
