One of the most commonly used pieces of hardware in material handling, an eye bolt has a simple design, consisting
of a threaded shank with a ring/eye at one end. Eye bolts are threaded to structures such as wood or steel posts and
often supported by a nut. They are designed to have a rope or cable fed through the ring in order to lift objects.
There are four specialized types of eyebolts.
1. Forged eyebolts are forged instead of formed. These one-piece fasteners that offer higher load ratings.
2. Screw eyes are screws with a head shaped into a loop or eye. They are often used in lifting and rigging applications,
or to guide wire or cable.
3. Shoulder eyebolts have a shoulder under the eye. Typically, the shoulder is installed flush with the mounting surface.
4. Thimble eyebolts are designed with an opening that acts as a thimble for wire or rope to minimize wear.
Ball eye as power fitting fixate the suspension clamp or aerial tension clamp to insulated strings or to tower when AAAC,
ACSS, ACSR conductors being installed.
Ball eye is used to attach ball and socket insulators to other associated hardware.
The use of the ball oval eye and an anchor shackle is one of the most common distribution tower attachment combinations.
It is made of malleable iron or casting steel and hot-dip galvanized.
