As part of the “One Belt, One Road” initiative, Pakistan’s Karot Hydropower Station project officially started construction recently.This marks

that this strategic hydropower station will inject strong impetus into Pakistan’s energy supply and economic development.

The Karot Hydropower Station is located on the Jergam River in the Punjab Province of Pakistan, with a total installed capacity of 720 MW.

This hydropower station is constructed by China Energy Construction Corporation, with a total project investment of approximately US$1.9 billion.

According to the plan, the project will be completed in 2024, which will provide Pakistan with clean energy and reduce its dependence on

non-renewable energy.

The construction of Karot Hydropower Station is of great strategic significance to Pakistan. First, it can effectively cope with Pakistan’s growing

energy demand and stabilize power supply. Secondly, this hydropower station will promote local economic development and create a large number

of job opportunities. In addition, this project will also provide a platform for energy interconnection and strengthen cooperation between Pakistan
